Behind the Scenes and Some Random Talk.

Test Shots
Waiting for people to pass by
Getting caught doing the chicken dance
Just hanging out in Denver

All Behind the Scenes Footage and Pictures were taken by Rachel McFadden

A lot of people have been asking why the past couple of months I've avoided the interwebs aka YouTube and BlogSpot and that's because I've just been trying to find myself. I went through like a "breakup" I guess is the word to use, even though I wouldn't consider it as a relationship and I looked at how public of a person I am and how open I am with people. I kind of just stepped back and asked myself if everything I was doing was right for me. I realized everything that I'm doing in my life is everything I ever wanted when I was a kid. Maybe things worked out for the better? I mean I got to shoot with a cool up and coming photographer and the riders at Barnum North Bike Park! Pictures are coming soon!

My Modeling Story and Ultimate Dream

Photographer: Megan Lunsford

Taking the Leap:
My first actual big photo shoot that I had was back in 2011 with Sharon Arnoldi Photography and let me tell you, I've became a totally different person after this shoot. I began to accept myself for who I am, love myself and tell myself that I'm beautiful.

This particular shoot, sparked my interest even more, raised my self esteem and began to really get into model for fun.

DivineSkye Photography:
I'm sure you've seen all my photo credits from DivineSkye Photography and after my very first photo shoot with Megan Lunsford (the owner) I had a turning point in my "career" as a model. After our first shoot, I knew that modeling as a career was my ultimate dream!

Seriously, as soon as I saw these pictures, I was incredibly proud of myself for making the move to ask Megan if I could model for her and I couldn't thank her enough!

My Ultimate Dream:
I'm not going to lie, to be a model as my career is my biggest dream. Modeling, is one of the most amazing feelings ever. To be in front of a camera, wearing a cute outfit, having your make up and hair done is literally what makes me the happiest.
Ever since I can remember, I always loved being in front of a camera. My Mom took so many pictures of me and did pretty much on a daily basis to document my life. I loved posing, looking cute and when the film was developed and seeing pictures of me is one of my fondest memories.
My ultimate and hands down the biggest dream of mine is to model for Vans, Pacsun and any big brand! Since I've been working for Vans, there are always gigantic new canvases of girls modeling the collection for the season and that's ultimately what I want in life. I want to be known as a Vans Girl and be on a canvas or magazine to see I've caught my dream. If I could do that for any brand, I'd be honored and even more honored if it was for Vans because I do work for them and seeing my face in Pacsun campaign or anything like that would be so awesome. Some day, I will achieve my dream.

XOXO

Finding Inspiration:
For me personally, finding fashion inspiration isn't hard at all. I look to what others are wearing everywhere, nature, Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube, Teen Vogue Magazines, Bloggers and my own Vans store that I work at.
In my world, I'm exposed to all things fashion. Working for Vans, I get to see the look books for each season before a collection is launched and I'm inspired by all of it to take the looks I love and incorporate it into what I wear on a daily basis. Now, I'm the type of person who will buy a shirt, cut it up into a crop tanktop and distress it.
I know for some people, looking for fashion inspiration isn't the easiest to find. I suggest if you're having a hard time or not really sure about fashion just walk around the mall, look at their mannequins and what they're styled in and decide whether it's something you like or dislike! It's okay to not know anything about fashion but if you're looking to be more stylish, you can also go to a friend who might be into fashion and try some of her clothes on to get an idea of what you like and are comfortable in!

Personal Style:
I love the whole "Rock n' Roll," grungy, dark, edgy look probably 95% of the time. I love my blacks what can I say?! Though, my wardrobe is very dark, I like to add jewelry for just a pop to make an outfit interesting. I love pairing gold statement necklaces with solid black pieces to add some color and trend to an outfit.
Outfit Shown: Dark Rinse Super Skinny Jeans from Hollister, Dark Brown Leather Belt from American Eagle, Black V-Neck from Forever 21, Black Cotton Blazer from Macy's, Gold and Black Tribal Inspired Necklace from Forever 21 and the Black and Gold Braided Headband is from Forever 21
See how the gold makes it more interesting?!

I have another side to my wardrobe, it's not all black, edgy and hardcore, it's really actually the EXACT OPPOSITE! I'm not gonna lie, I love me some Abercrombie&Fitch and Hollister. I love the beachy laid back girly style and their clothes always fit me perfectly since I am quite little to say the least! I'm not gonna lie, I love all of their dresses, pants, t-shirts, fragrance and everything because it is very feminine and that's what I love about those brands.

Outfit: Dark Rince Super Skinny Jeans from Hollister, Navy T-Shirt from Abercrombie, Brown Leather Belt from American Eagle and I don't know where this Brown Faux Leather Jacket is from :P

Fashion Idol:

Let's talk about her outfit? Can we say perfect?!

Hanna Beth is literally like my fashion idol, her look is dark, grungy, laid back, edgy and totally Rock n' Roll but she can also be very boho, classic and girly, that's what I love about her! I've looked to her as a role model as well as fashion idol for about 7 years and she has always stayed true to her personal style. She takes things that she loves and shows who she is as a person through her wardrobe and that's something I try to achieve!

Advice: Your personal style doesn't have to be one specific type, mixing and matching is fun and adds uniqueness to you! Style, is showing who you are through your clothes, so make what inspires you, your own! Don't copy everything you see, just because you feel like you have to be wearing what's on the mannequins to be "cool." Just be you and wear what you love!

XOXO

Modeling Advice

Photo Credits: DivineSkye Photography and Sharon Arnoldi Photography
Photographers: Megan Lunsford from DivineSkye and Sharon Arnoldi from Sharon Arnoldi Photography

Modeling has been something I've been interested in my entire life. I remember being little, going outside and making my Mom ALWAYS take pictures of me. It's something that I love and really have a passion for and that's what my blog is about, right?! My first "real" photo shoot was when Sharon approached my Dad about doing my senior pictures. She featured me on her website and stated that I "was fun, easy to photograph, comfortable around a camera and photogenic" which really sparked my interest even more. I thought to myself  "Huh, this is something that I think that I can actually do that's not music and being a total nerd playing the infamous Call of Duty!" I definitely know that I am NOT a Runway Model because I'm not an almost 6ft tall woman, unfortunately I'm only about 5ft 3ish. Although, I'm pretty little I am really interested in being a Print Model. Seriously, how cool would it be to be in a magazine for Vans or even Young and Reckless, I mean come on...that would be HUGE. From my experiences with the photo shoots I've had, I take all of them as a learning experience! I ain't no professional model ;) But, for the girls who are looking into it or want to experience what a photo shoot, here are some of MY personal tips that work for me!
  1. PRACTICE IN FRONT OF YOUR MIRROR AND TAKE SELFIES! It sounds totally weird, but it's something that I think you really need to do to get comfortable with yourself changing your poses and faces. You absolutely need to have a flow when you're working with a photographer. They don't want to be telling you what to do every step of the way! Getting in front of the mirror and posing will really help to get you to know your "angles." Knowing your good angles and sides are so important for a picture to come out great! For example, my best side is my right side with my chin slightly tilted down with my neck a tad bit elongated depending on the pose. I feel like it's my "signature" kind of picture are all of those things with my mouth a tad bit open and relaxed, which is what really works for me.
  2. WORKOUT and EAT HEALTHY! I mean come on, you have to be in shape in my opinion. If you want to look good in pictures you absolutely need to keep your body toned. Eating healthy and drinking a ton of water is very important, you don't want to have pimples all over your face,  no do you?!
  3. ENHANCE WHAT YOU ALREADY HAVE WITH MAKEUP! This is one of my favorite things about photo shoots, is that I get to experiment with makeup or have someone do my makeup for me. But what I love when I do my own makeup, is that I get to use great products that enhance my features and I don't need to cake it up because I do eat healthy, resulting into having healthy looking skin and fortunately I don't struggle with acne anymore. The things I do for my face when I do my own make up is, use any BB Cream I have on hand, use Benefit's Porefessional face primer, use one pump of MAC's Studio Fix in NW15, contour my face with Revlon's Whipped Cream Foundation that's about three shades darker than my NW15, set it with a translucent powder, go over my contouring with Avon's Marberlized Bronzing Powder in Bronzed Peach and then my favorite part...highlighting with either MAC's Mineralize Skin Finish in Porcelain Pink or the sample that I have of Benefit's Watt's Up highlighter which is so on point! Now, it seems like a lot for someone who doesn't have problematic skin, but it I like having my face look flawless on camera! For my eyes, I really don't do a lot besides swipe Mac's eye shadow in All That Glitters all over the lid, blend it out with Mac's Esperesso in the crease, highlight my inner tear duct with any white shimmery eye shadow, wing out my eye liner with Maybelline's Eye Studio Gel Eyeliner in black, smudge black eye shadow under my lower lashes, curl my eye lashes and use a couple coats of Benefit's They're Real Mascara in black, maybe slap on some false eye lashes and always do my lips either nude, pink, or dark!
  4. FIND THE PERFECT OUTFIT! It's all about fashion and looking good, it doesn't matter if it's uncomfortable or not, you have to make sure your outfit is on point and fits the theme and desired look for the photographer!
  5. SMILE! There's nothing prettier than a genuine smile and confidence!

So there's my Modeling 101 and story! There's not a lot that beats the feeling of having a photo shoot and looking hott!! I hope it's useful to some of you and that y'all can learn a little something from someone who's had a few amazing experiences! You guys can see more pictures from shoots on Instagram @callmeekatiee :)
 Good luck <3

XOXO,
Katie

Let's Talk Fashion.

Photo Credit: Divineskye Photography Photographer: Megan Lunsford
Outfit: Dress from Macys, Belt is from Target, and of course my staple Sk8 Hi Wedges from Vans
Makeup: MAC's Studio Fix in NW15, Revlon's Whipped Foundation for Contouring, Mabelline's Translucent Powder, Avon's Mineralized Bronzing Powder, MACs Mineralize Skin Finish in Porcelain Pink, Avon's 12 in 1 Pallete, Mary Kay's True Dimension Lipstick in Mystic Plum, Maybelline's Eye Studio Fix Gel Eyeliner in Black and Benefit Cosmetic's They're Real?! Mascara in Black.

I feel like my style is EVERYWHERE. Anything from really girly, to extremely edgy like in this picture is where my personal style is. There's no doubt that my style changes on an everyday basis, because that's what I think fashion is. Fashion to me is about expressing yourself and owning who you are as an individual. Getting inspiration from others and making it my own is in my opinion, the best thing you can ever do. What makes this particular outfit ME is the fact that I rock those leopard Sk8Hi Wedges by Vans because I absolutely love them. Loving new things that are different and that are set apart from the rest is individuality and that's what makes me I think, a "Vans Girl." Embracing what I have, being confident in myself, believing in myself and expressing myself through what I wear is true fashion and style. It isn't about having everything designer branded or anything like that. Being able to model what I seriously love is one of the biggest honors I have! Tell me what you think fashion is and what you think of this outfit! Don't forget to share this blog and follow me on Instagram @callmeekatiee
